Nmplol stunned by “insane” $16,000 pulls from vintage Pokemon TCG box

As a seasoned gamer with decades worth of card-collecting experiences under my belt, I must admit that watching Nmplol and NoraExplorer’s Pokemon TCG vintage box opening was nothing short of mesmerizing. The excitement that unfolded during the stream was reminiscent of the thrill I felt when I first opened my own packs back in the 90s.

Streamer and affiliate of OTK (One True King), Nmplol, has withdrawn approximately $16,000 value of vintage Pokémon Trading Card Game cards from a box.

Currently, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is seeing a surge in popularity due to the highly successful launch of Pokémon TCG: Pocket. While it’s always been a favorite pastime, it’s now drawing significant attention from prominent content creators.

Streamer Nmplol skillfully unveiled an old Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) box from the past, filled with Base Set 2 cards. In a remarkable turn of events, he and his guest, NoraExplorer, pulled out all three sought-after chase cards from the same booster pack in this historic run.

Their haul could come in at a whopping $16,226 USD but that’s dependent on some pretty important variables. Here’s how they managed it.

Gathering Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) cards can be quite profitable, with some of the game’s rarest cards selling for millions. These vintage cards are highly desired, and a booster box from the Base Set 2, such as the one Nmplol and NoraExplorer opened on their stream, definitely falls under that category.

In the year 2000, we saw the release of the second edition, or reprint, of the initial set of 102 cards that debuted in 1996 – this is known as Base Set 2. Though individual cards from this collection aren’t as pricey as their original versions, a completely unopened box can fetch around $10,000. Incredibly, Nmplol managed to make a profit from it due to his extraordinary luck.

During the live broadcast, opening 36 booster packs, the streamer along with his co-host managed to get the most desirable set of chase cards. By discovering the complete set of final evolutions for the iconic Kanto Starter Pokemon, their total collection ended up earning them a profit.

The holographic Blastoise is worth $1,114 with a perfect PSA 10 grade while Venusaur pulls in $709. The real gem is the Charizard which is valued at a hefty $8,500.

Finding all 3 in a single booster box requires an incredible amount of luck so do think twice before going out and buying a $10,000 booster box of your own.
