As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that Nintendo’s new Alarmo alarm clock has caught my attention like nothing else in recent memory. Growing up with classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Pikmin, the idea of waking up to the familiar tunes and scenes from these games is a dream come true.
This week saw the reveal of Nintendo’s upcoming Alarmo alarm clock, with delivery scheduled for 2025. Excitingly, Nintendo has already planned a day-one software update that users can download immediately upon receiving their device.
You can picture this: Alarmo is an alarm clock inspired by Nintendo, playing tunes from famous games to help you start your day fresh and energetic every morning. It’s designed to make sure you wake up on the good side of the bed, avoiding any unwanted obstacles like a green shell! Additionally, it comes equipped with motion-activated technology that lets you silence its alarm simply by waving your hand.
According to Nintendo’s official site, the latest version 2.0.0 update for Alarmo includes modifications, enhancements, and alterations as follows:
- Added “Moderate Mode” as a new Mode option.
- Added “Movement Record” as a new Records feature.
- This will automatically display in Records if you go to bed during “Bedtime.”
- You can set this to On or Off in the “Records” menu on the device.
- “Distance from bed” can now be set to 20in/50cm max for Queen and King size beds.
- When “Check Sensor Zone” is run, an estimated “position of movement” will now be displayed.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
Beyond incorporating classic Nintendo tunes and motion control, Alarmo additionally offers backdrops from several Nintendo Switch games instead of the usual clock face. These games form part of Alarmo’s collection of background scenes:
- The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
- Pikmin 4
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Splatoon 3
- Super Mario Odyssey
Users linking their Alarmo to a Nintendo Online account receive additional special clock face backgrounds: one derived from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and another from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. However, it’s important to note that although many Nintendo Switch games are incorporated into the clock design, Alarmo functions independently as a separate device, not interfacing with other Nintendo hardware like the Nintendo Switch itself.
You can now pre-order the Nintendo Alarmo clock through Nintendo’s official online store at a price of $100 USD. However, only those with an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription are eligible for placing orders currently. The delivery of the Alarmo is slated to start in early 2025.
