As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, the recent turn of events regarding Idea Factory International’s games has left me scratching my virtual head. The news that Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation, and Re;Birth 3: V Generation will no longer be gracing the Nintendo Switch in North America or Europe, along with Death end re;Quest Code Z, feels like a punch to the gaming gut.

Idea Factory International has shared that the following games – Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3: V Generation, as well as Death end re;Quest Code Z – will no longer be coming to the Nintendo Switch in North America or Europe.

Initially slated for a western launch in April 2024, the three Neptunia ports for Nintendo Switch were postponed indefinitely a month after the announcement. Currently, these games are accessible on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan, but not globally. In the west, you can find these games on PlayStation Vita and Steam. Interestingly, the first game, now titled Neptunia reVerse, also has a version for PlayStation 5.

The game titled “Death end re;Quest Code Z” was launched in Japan back in September 2024, available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It was earlier announced by Idea Factory International that the western versions would be released across all three platforms in 2025. However, it seems that the upcoming western release will only be playable on PlayStation platforms, excluding the Nintendo Switch.

The statement from Idea Factory International can be found below, in full. Although we do not have hard details, the specific wording in the statement is worth noting. The Re;Birth series will not launch on Switch “due to the contents”, while Death end re;Quest Code Z will not launch due to “not complying with the Nintendo Guidelines”.

Initially, Idea Factory International planned to make available several Neptunia series games on the Nintendo eShop starting May 21, including Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 Sisters Generation, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation. Additionally, it was revealed that Death end re;Quest: Code Z would be released both physically and digitally for the Nintendo Switch in the year 2025.

Due to issues with the content of the Re;Birth series and Death end re;Quest: Code Z not meeting Nintendo’s guidelines, the release of Neptunia titles 3, as well as Death end re;Quest: Code Z, for North America and Europe on the Nintendo Switch and eShop has been cancelled.

Just a heads up, Death end re;Quest: Code Z will continue its release on both physical and digital platforms for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the year 2025.
