As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent racing through futuristic circuits on my trusty Game Boy Advance, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia upon hearing that F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax are coming to the Nintendo Switch. These games were part of my formative years as a gamer, and their return is like a reunion with old friends.
Next week, two additional timeless games – F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax – are being incorporated into the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. These titles will be made available in the Game Boy Advance collection starting October 11.
First appeared in 2003 and 2004 respectively, GP Legend and Climax are the last F-Zero games developed for the Game Boy Advance. These games offer more than just the traditional Grand Prix and Time Attack modes; GP Legend includes a story mode and a large variety of racers to choose from.
Previously unavailable overseas, F-Zero Climax is now set to make its official debut outside Japan. This game offers a course editor and stands out as the last new addition in the series so far. After its launch, the F-Zero franchise went quiet for over 19 years until F-Zero 99 came out in 2023.
Experience the thrill of defeating Zoda and his Dark Million organization in F-ZERO CLIMAX, followed by participating in the ultra-fast F-Zero Grand Prix races found in F-Zero – GP Legend! These beloved F-Zero games from the Game Boy Advance era will be available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on October 11th.

Hey there fellow gaming enthusiasts! I just wanted to share that two fantastic games will be accessible through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, which is an exclusive premium service. For those who sign up, you’ll gain extra perks like playing classic Nintendo 64 games and enjoying some sweet DLC expansions for certain Switch titles.
Besides the announcement of a new F-Zero game, there’s more good news for fans! The existing F-Zero 99 is getting an upgrade for free – version 1.5 – which brings a fresh Grand Prix league, five extra tracks, and new machine decals into the mix. Nintendo Switch Online members can download F-Zero 99 at no cost.
