Without any further conjecture, here are the specifications for the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing the reasons behind its impressive performance. As it turns out, many of the rumors surrounding it were indeed accurate. This new device is not only larger but also significantly more robust, boasting numerous upgrades that make it a powerhouse in the handheld gaming market.
Nintendo Switch 2 specs are here
For some time now, there’s been a lack of news regarding Switch 2. We’ve already gathered most of the essential details such as its release date, price (luckily, it didn’t increase in the US), and the exciting lineup of upcoming games. One of the much-anticipated titles is Hades 2, which will be a console exclusive on Switch 2, similar to From Software’s new multiplayer game, The Duskbloods. The only piece of information missing was a complete list of its specifications, but Nintendo has now revealed that too.
- Processor: Nintendo never really reveals this detail and it’s always a “custom NVIDIA process,” but pretty much all the leaks point to the NVIDIA T239. It has an 8-core ARM Cortex-A78C CPU, with six cores for games and two saved for operating system.
- Graphics: GPU based on NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture, supporting DLSS and ray tracing.
- Memory: 126GB RAM, with 3GB reserved for system functions.
- Storage: 256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD Express cards.
- Display: 7.9-inch LCD touchscreen with a 1920×1080 resolution, supporting HDR10 and VVR up to 120HZ (in handheld mode).
- Battery Life: Estimated between 2 to 6.5 hours, depending on usage, with a full recharge time of approximately 3 hours.
- Dock: Equipped with two USB ports, HDMI output supporting up to 4K at 60Hz or 1440p at 120Hz, and a built-in Ethernet port. The dock also features a cooling fan.
- Joy–Con 2 controllers: Redesigned with larger buttons and magnetic attachments to the console. They now include a mouse sensor and a dedicated “C” button for the new GameChat feature.
- Audio & Connectivity: Built-in microphone with noise and echo cancellation, stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth 3.0, and a wired LAN port available when docked.
Essentially, the Switch 2 isn’t quite as powerful as the Steam Deck, but it could be considered a mid-range PC in terms of performance. It’s a significant upgrade from the original Switch, focusing more on efficiency and portability than raw power. Features like DLSS and HDR are strong points for this device, making it a modern contender without aiming for the highest end specifications.
Anyway, only three weeks left now!
