Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cards Are Faster And A Different Color Than Switch 1

During their April 2nd Direct, Nintendo shared extensive information about the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console, delving into its innovative new functions. They also provided a detailed glimpse of the Switch 2 game cards, which have some minor differences compared to the ones for the original Switch.

According to Nintendo’s confirmation, the game cards for Switch 2 will maintain the same dimensions and form as those for Switch 1, but there are some noticeable changes. The most apparent alteration is that these new cards are red instead of black. Additionally, they boast a significantly quicker data-reading speed.

Moreover, it has been verified that Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 model will exclusively support microSD Express Cards, which means it won’t be compatible with the same microSD cards used in the original Switch 1. Nintendo claims these new cards will enable “rapid data transfers.” In contrast to the initial Switch 1 launching with 32GB of storage, the Switch 2 is expected to come pre-installed with 256GB.

In addition to this, Nintendo mentions that the Switch 2 comes equipped with a System Transfer function. This enables users to relocate their Switch 1 data, such as save games and digital purchases, to the fresh device.
