Nintendo Switch 2 Cards Taste Horrible!

The game cards for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be delicious. Despite the company’s efforts to make the visuals and functionality of their new games captivating, they have equally put in effort to prevent anyone from mistaking them as food.

After long waits, the Switch 2 is now under the spotlight. The sequel to Nintendo’s highly successful gaming platform is only a few weeks away from its June 5, 2025 release, and thanks to a recent broadcast, we have almost all the details about what’s fresh.

The hardware inside has been upgraded to handle larger and more complex games such as Cyberpunk 2077, however, the higher cost of many games has sparked some controversy on the internet.

Despite any changes, one constant factor remains – the employment of game cards. Just as with the initial Nintendo Switch, these games are played using small, compact cards. The only variation here is that they’re now red.

In continuation with its previous model, Nintendo has equally focused on ensuring that the game cards for Switch 2 lack any appealing taste. To clarify, there’s been a deliberate attempt to make them unpalatable.

Nintendo Switch 2 game cards will still taste horrendous

According to a report by Gamespot, it has been confirmed that the taste of Nintendo Switch 2 game cards will remain slightly unpleasant, serving as a deterrent for both young children and animals, who might be tempted to bite or chew on them.

“We don’t want anybody to be at risk of any unwanted consumption,” Nintendo’s Takuhiro Dohta said.

“We have indeed made it so that if it enters your mouth, you’ll spit it out.”

It’s unclear which specific substance has been used on the Switch 2 game cartridges, but Nintendo has assured that there’s no significant danger, apart from an unpleasant taste. If you find yourself accidentally licking a cartridge for any reason, you can rest assured that it doesn’t require an immediate trip to the emergency room.

As a point of fact, the game cards for the initial Nintendo Switch release featured denatonium benzoate, a substance that gives a bitter taste, which Nintendo acknowledged. This compound is commonly utilized for such purposes as discouraging both animals and young children from ingesting potentially harmful objects due to its unpleasant flavor.

It’s quite interesting to note that even some of Nintendo’s very own tasted the original Switch during its development phase.

During the creation of the Nintendo Switch, Kouichi Kawamoto admitted to giving it a quick lick once, but he’s never done it since. He finds it hard to fathom that others would attempt the same act.
