Nintendo has launched a new app for iOS and Android called the Nintendo Store, making it simpler to browse sales and download games for both Switch and Switch 2. A standout feature of the app is its ability to track your play time, showing you how long you’ve spent playing games all the way back to the Nintendo 3DS.
The Nintendo Store app also keeps you updated with the latest company news and lets you check your My Nintendo rewards. However, you can’t actually buy anything directly in the app—it directs you to the Nintendo website to complete purchases, like a new Switch game or an upgrade for the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Store app launched shortly after Nintendo shared its recent financial results. A key highlight was that the Switch 2 has already sold 10 million units by September 30th. This number doesn’t include sales of the Switch 2 bundled with Pokemon Legends: Z-A, so the actual total is likely even higher.
Nintendo also announced plans to consistently release new films based on their popular games. The Super Mario Galaxy movie will debut on April 3rd, and a live-action Legend of Zelda movie is planned for release in 2027.
Nintendo is increasing its marketing efforts for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, with a recent trailer revealing Samus performing acrobatic moves, including a slide reminiscent of the anime film Akira. The game is scheduled to release on December 4th for both the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
