Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Thursday

It’s official! The rumors are true and we’ll be seeing a Nintendo Direct this week. Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 27 at either 7 AM PT or 10 AM ET. That’s when Nintendo will broadcast a 30-minute live stream dedicated to showcasing upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch. No specific details beyond that have been revealed yet.

Just a few days prior to the planned Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, we anticipate receiving information about potential games, pricing, and launch dates. However, it appears unlikely that we’ll hear anything regarding the Switch 2 during the live stream on Thursday.

Initially, it was uncertain whether the upcoming event, known as the Direct, would follow the traditional format of a Nintendo Direct or something similar to an Indie World Showcase, as first reported by NateTheHate2. However, another leaker from China, who had previously revealed details about the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, stated this week that a special show focusing on the original Nintendo Switch will take place in just three days.

As a dedicated fan, I can speculate that Nintendo might want to highlight the remaining games and features coming to the Switch this year, distinct from the anticipated Switch 2. Not everyone is going to be an early adopter of the Switch 2, and experts believe it may not outsell its predecessor as swiftly. By having two separate Directs, Nintendo can solely concentrate on their upcoming system during their April 2 showcase, providing a more focused experience for fans like myself.

Regarding potential reveals in the upcoming Nintendo Direct, it’s plausible that we might see Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and possibly more details about Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, there was a Pokemon Presents showcase just last month as well.

Previously, Nintendo has launched two titles – “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD” and “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.” The latter game, it’s been speculated among players, may contain a covert mode that could potentially support a 60fps gaming experience on the hypothetical Switch 2.
