As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless production houses, I must admit that the appointment of Nicola Griffiths as SVP of Production at The ATS Team has left me thoroughly impressed. With her extensive experience in high-end unscripted programming and a proven track record at Workerbee, she brings an unparalleled level of expertise to the table.
The ATS Team has tapped Workerbee’s Nicola Griffiths as SVP of production.
Griffiths, formerly the head of production at Workerbee, will now split his time among the U.S., U.K., and Portuguese offices of both the production company and the production services provider. He will report directly to the managing director and COO of The ATS Team, Danny Sanz.
Possessing proficiency in obtaining tax credits, overseeing international distributions, and handling budgets worth up to £6 million, her role primarily involves boosting ATS’s collection of unique intellectual properties and collaborating with development and production executive Shayna Waldman on the creation and production of international formats.
At Workerbee Griffiths, the focus lies on producing premium unscripted content. This includes shows like “Hot Wheels” on NBC, “Bear Hunt” for Netflix, and the Channel 4/HBO Max collaboration titled “The Bridge.
Apart from focusing on independent projects, ATS is also expanding its line production services. This growth is facilitated by a vast network of international TV production teams spread across North America, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Australia. These crews are equipped to provide a range of services such as local permitting, location scouting, and set construction. They prove particularly useful when it comes to producing adventure and challenge format shows.
Some productions that ATS has been a part of are “Ultimate Beastmaster” on Netflix, “The Titan Games with Dwayne Johnson” on NBC, and “Holey Moley” on ABC.
Griffiths stated, “Over the years I’ve closely collaborated with The ATS Team, and I can attest to their exceptional abilities, proficiency, and commitment to producing top-tier shows worldwide. It’s surprising how many people in our industry aren’t aware that The ATS Team is behind nearly 90 seasons of ‘Ninja Warrior’ globally. This speaks volumes about the company’s production quality and delivery, a trait deeply ingrained within them. Their talent is exceptional, and I aspire to join forces with them, strengthen partnerships with co-producers, and bring to life and secure commissions for the outstanding original ideas they have in their pipeline.
Sanz remarked: “Having Nicola join The ATS Team will be a priceless asset – we’ve collaborated with her for many years, and she is undoubtedly one of the most seasoned heads of department in our industry. Moreover, we truly enjoy working alongside her, and we are deeply humbled that this new chapter in her career comes after her successful tenure at Workerbee.
