Ninja warns AI will make streaming “impossible” in just one year

Streaming sensation Ninja asserts that artificial intelligence could potentially end the streaming industry if urgent steps aren’t taken to differentiate between genuine and fabricated content.

Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, renowned for his extensive streaming career, once managed the most popular Twitch channel on the platform.

Initially, he gained significant recognition through his Fortnite live streams. However, his previous massive fame has noticeably decreased, primarily because of a short stint when he switched from Twitch to Mixer, which unfortunately did not last long.

As a seasoned gamer and streamer, I’m raising the red flag about the rapid progress of AI content. If things keep going at this pace without significant adjustments, I fear that streaming as we know it will become an impossible task.

Ninja demands big AI change before fake videos kill streaming

As Google’s Veo3 AI video generator gained popularity, it was found that individuals could generate convincing videos featuring fictitious streamers playing games.

In a video widely shared, attracting over 2 million views, Veo3 demonstrated the ability to simulate a false Fortnite streamer celebrating a victory royale. Despite some rough edges, particularly in the generation of gameplay, it underscores the rapid advancement AI videos have made in a short span of time.

According to Ninja, this is a massive problem.

He stated that if a visible and permanent watermark isn’t added to all AI videos, such as those made by Veos, within the next 6-12 months, streaming of these videos will no longer be possible, according to his explanation.

Blevins cautioned further, predicting a surge in the creation and distribution of deepfake videos and manufactured dramas.

He continued, “This is the end. It’s all going to be a loss, game over. Artificial intelligence will generate statements that are extremely racist, absurd, and outrageous, and some people will believe they are real. There will be enough instances of this – videos here and there – that it will become commonplace. The impact will be overwhelming.

Visualize a scenario where some individuals intentionally create sensational content with the goal of damaging streamers’ careers. Now, envision what it would be like if these people simply typed out their malicious prompts instead.

As a devoted follower, I’ve come to realize that, as Blevins suggests, there could be a time when he feels compelled to declare his complete departure from the digital world. From then on, any content claiming to be him might no longer hold authenticity.

So far, the problem of viewers mistaking AI-generated videos for authentic streamer content hasn’t been widespread, but it’s important to note that people can still easily confuse AI with real human beings.

In the year 2025, an Australian radio station discreetly employed an artificial intelligence as their host, only for listeners to find out several months later that their favorite on-air personality was entirely AI-generated.
