D4 Enterprise recently unveiled a Nintendo Switch version of the iconic RPG “Dinosaur,” originally developed by Nihon Falcom. This new version is available not just in the Japanese eShop, but also globally on the American, European, and Australian eShops. So, this classic game now stands alongside other previously ported Falcom titles like “Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished” on various digital platforms.
This version of the game, called EGG Console Dinosaur PC-8801mkIISR, originated from its initial release on the PC-8801 in December 1990. Later, Nihon Falcom launched the game for other systems such as the PC-9801 and FM Towns PC in June 1991. A remake named Dinosaur ~Resurrection~ was also released on computers running Windows OS from 1998 to Vista in December 2002.
Note that while the eShop indicates support for both English and Japanese languages, it’s important to clarify that the main gameplay and gallery sections are only offered in their original Japanese version. The manual and side menus, on the other hand, do have English support.

Experience a tale-rich, order-oriented role-playing game with a tough edge. Take on the role of ‘Ash’ and journey through the dinosaur-inhabited realm, accompanied by your fellow travelers.
Titled “Dinosaur,” this role-playing game was introduced in Japan back in 1990, boasting an uncommon 3D perspective by Nihon Falcom. The game’s narrative is steeped in darkness and gravity, with a fascinating universe construction that even extends to the names of its spells such as “I Witness the Death-Dancing Maiden.” What sets it apart is its distinctive ambiance that grips players. Yet, its mechanics are equally noteworthy.
One of its standout aspects is the utilization of “Techniques,” which consume TP (Technical Points) to activate special abilities like sword skills, magic, and songs. These skills are honed through practice in their respective fields, growing stronger with each use—resulting in a captivating, realistic progression system. Furthermore, the game incorporates a “Technique Transmission” event, enabling party members to share skills with one another. The way players develop and utilize these skills during their adventure is entirely strategy-driven.
Instead of resorting to cheap tricks, this game provides meticulously designed maps adapted to each scene, resulting in a profound and immersive RPG experience. If you’re a fan of intricate, well-constructed RPGs,
The primary game and display screen (Gallery) are in the Japanese version, while other menu screens and instructional screens on how to play are in English.
