Get ready for a major treat! Two of Britain’s best-loved food personalities are teaming up on The Great British Bake Off. Nigella Lawson is joining Paul Hollywood as a judge for the show’s 17th series, alongside hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond. She’ll be taking over from Prue Leith, who decided to leave after many years, wanting to enjoy her garden and relax during the summer months.
Nigella Lawson said she was surprisingly speechless about joining ‘The Great British Bake Off.’ While acknowledging it’s intimidating to follow such beloved judges as Prue Leith and Mary Berry, she’s incredibly excited. She described the show as a ‘National Treasure’ and a huge honor to be a part of, expressing her joy at joining the team and future bakers. She wished Prue Leith well and said she’s very grateful for the opportunity.
Prue Leith commented on the announcement, saying, “I was really hoping it would be Nigella! What a fantastic pick.” Nigella Lawson became well-known in the UK in the late 1990s and early 2000s thanks to books like How to Eat and several television shows, starting with Nigella Bites. Forget tough pastries and Paul Hollywood’s approval – Lawson’s friendly and fun personality makes her a great fit for the show, and she’s sure to create some memorable sayings.
