Nick Polom apologizes for joking about Texas floods

Streamer Nick Polom (also known as Nmplol) expressed regret for remarks he made concerning individuals impacted by the 2025 Texas floods in July.

As of writing, more than 40 people, including 15 children, have been confirmed dead.

Nmplol apologizes for “joke” that “went too far”

During a live stream on July 5th by fellow OTK member Esfand, Polom asked, “Are these victims mostly children?” after learning that over a dozen individuals had perished in flooding incidents and several more were unaccounted for.

Polom responded by saying, “In truth, there won’t be many opportunities left for them in the future, but don’t worry about it.” When someone suggested that the children had their entire lives ahead of them, Polom countered, “Their whole lives? As they grow up, every job will likely be automated by AI. Anything they need to learn can be found on platforms like ChatGPT. There seems to be no promising future for them.

The video swiftly gained traction on social platforms, leading to strong criticism. On the 6th of July, Polom offered an apology via X/Twitter.

The video rapidly spread across various social media sites, causing a wave of severe disapproval. On July 6, Polom issued an apology on X/Twitter.

I apologize, my friends. The joke took an unfortunate turn, and I didn’t realize the gravity of the situation. It’s truly sad to see what’s happening in Texas. Moving forward, I will be more thoughtful about what I say or do. I hope everyone remains safe and dry during this challenging time in Texas.

The replies to Polom’s apology were mostly cold-hearted, with one comment reading, “Dude, it seems like you’re trying to win a race for the least likable person.

In 2024, Polom, a partner at Austin-based media company OTK, publicly announced his separation from Malena Tudi. Later divorce documents disclosed that Tudi alleged Polom’s actions towards her were instances of “financial mistreatment” or “economic abuse.
