The casting for HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series has sparked quite a debate among fans. Some have criticized actors like Paapa Essiedu (cast as Snape) and young actress Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) for reasons that seem senseless and bigoted to many. However, other critics have more justifiable concerns about the casting decisions thus far. On the flip side, fans universally agree that Nick Frost, renowned for his roles in Hot Fuzz and Paul, is an ideal choice for Rubeus Hagrid. In this reboot, Frost will play the gamekeeper and groundskeeper of Hogwarts School. Interestingly, it’s this casting choice that fans have warmly embraced, despite the high regard in which Robbie Coltrane’s portrayal of Hagrid in the original movies was held. However, Frost has expressed that he aims to bring a unique twist to his portrayal of Hagrid, different from the iconic original performance.
