Nick Frost Nears Deal to Play Hagrid in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series

It has been reported by EbMaster that Nick Frost, famous for his roles in Edgar Wright’s comedy series known as the Cornetto trilogy, is close to finalizing a deal to portray Rubeus Hagrid, the gentle half-giant caretaker of Hogwarts school, in HBO’s “Harry Potter” television series.

HBO did not offer any comments regarding Frost’s possible participation. Instead, they gave an evasive reply, stating, “We recognize that a high-profile series like this is likely to generate plenty of gossip and conjecture.

During the pre-production phase, we’ll only solidify the details once agreements are fully settled,” the network explained further.

News arises about Frost’s participation following the actor sharing an enigmatic post on Instagram several days ago, which read: “What a splendid sunny day! Indeed, it’s unfolding, it’s truly taking place. Keep your composure.

Simon Pegg’s comedy partner and co-star, Nick Frost, initially gained recognition through the British sitcom “Spaced.” This led to a fruitful collaboration with director Edgar Wright. Together, they produced a series of three genre films collectively known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, consisting of “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” and “The World’s End.” Frost also teamed up with Pegg in the alien comedy “Paul.” More recently, he lent his voice to the droid SM-33 in Disney+’s “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.” Upcoming projects include a live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon,” set for release in June on Universal.

Throughout all seven books in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series, Hagrid stands out as a significant character. He initially reveals to the young protagonist that he is a wizard and then escorts him off to Hogwarts. In the original “Harry Potter” movie series, this role was brought to life by Robbie Coltrane, who appeared in all eight films. Sadly, Coltrane passed away in 2022 at the age of 72.

Deadline was first to report on Frost’s association with the “Harry Potter” series.
