Nicholas Galitzine Shows Off He-Man Training (and Bulging Muscles) in CinemaCon Set Footage: ‘He Is Transforming’

At CinemaCon, we were among the first to catch a glimpse of the eagerly anticipated movie version of “Masters of the Universe” – truly one of the earliest previews!

Even though there wasn’t much available footage from the set, international cinema owners were amazed by the ambitious plans that Amazon MGM has initiated, featuring actors Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes under the direction of Travis Knight.

Standing here on set, I’m witnessing the resurrection of this extraordinary world,” I remark, feeling the excitement ripple through me. Director Knight, with his childhood affection for these iconic toys and the nostalgic ’80s animated series evident (he even sported a He-Man hairstyle back then), shared some intriguing insights. He unveiled massive set pieces that left the audience in awe, such as the legendary planet Eternia and the emblematic Sword of Power, He-Man’s iconic weapon.

Additionally, there was an abundance of additional footage from Galitzine’s workout routines – including sword-wielding exercises, bench-pressing, and a regrettably brief segment showcasing his bulging biceps while dressed in battle attire with an exceptionally stylish hairdo that has rarely been seen on a man recently.

In this upcoming production, Jared Leto takes on the role of the menacing Skeletor, a character not previously shown in any trailers. Alongside him are Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, and Johannes Haukur Johannesson, who has also appeared on “Game of Thrones.

In the spirit of admiration, I’d rephrase it like this:

“To survive the grueling journey known as ‘development hell,’ one would need muscles even stronger than Galitzine’s. Excitingly, by late 2023, it was exclusively revealed that Netflix had invested a staggering $30 million in fees for a project revolving around the talented Nee brothers (Adam and Aaron, renowned for “The Lost City of D”).

The earlier adaptation featured a different leading actor and couldn’t be produced without an allocated budget of $200 million. For years, Oscar-nominated producer Todd Black (known for “The Equalizer” series and “Fences”) has been committed to this project, collaborating with various studio partners. Eventually, it found its home with Amazon MGM.

This project originates from Mattel Films and Escape Artists. The Nee Brothers, along with Dave Callaham, developed the storyline, which was subsequently written into a script by Chris Butler, renowned for his work on “Kubo and the Two Strings.
