Microsoft has officially announced that we’ll soon be privy to a peek into the future of Halo, and fans won’t have to wait much longer. The 2025 Halo World Championship will serve as the stage for this major unveiling.
Towards the close of 2021, Halo Infinite made its debut, drawing gamers in with its core features. However, the game’s popularity plummeted swiftly due to missing key elements such as Forge mode and co-op upon release, along with delayed multiplayer updates that failed to maintain player interest.
The franchise has seen a significant drop in its fortunes ever since the controversial Halo TV series was axed following only two seasons. In an attempt to steer things back on course, Microsoft has rebranded 343 Industries as Halo Studios and offered fans a sneak peek into what lies ahead for the franchise.
On October 6, 2024, Halo Studios officially announced that their FPS series would transition to Unreal Engine 5, referring to this change as “A new Dawn.” Since then, there has been little news. However, we now have a date for an update on the future of this iconic franchise.
New Halo details to be revealed in October
Last year at the Halo World Championship, we caught a glimpse of something called ‘Project Foundry’. So, it’s reasonable to expect more details about it a year later.
According to Tashi, the ongoing dialogue will persist during this year’s Halo World Championship, which is scheduled to happen in Seattle from October 24th to 26th.
In a blog post published on June 30th, he stated that if you’re eager to learn the latest details about what Halo Studios has been developing, then you should definitely not miss this year’s Halo World Championship.
Fans can undoubtedly look forward to learning more about the series’ future, but it’s uncertain what specific details will be shared. Tashi has announced that Halo Studios is working on several projects simultaneously, so whether we’ll see additional information about Project Foundry or something completely new is yet to be seen.

T Combat Evolved might be in the works, potentially to mark the game’s 25th anniversary next year. However, it’s important to note that these projects are just rumors at this point, and even if they exist, there’s no confirmation that they’re being developed by Halo Studios. So, let’s approach these rumors with a bit of skepticism.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what October’s Halo World Championship event has in store.
