Next Gen World Sales Prize at Iberseries Platino Industria Renewed by Egeda, FilmSharks (EXCLUSIVE)

The Madrid-based rights management organization, Egeda, and distribution agency, FilmSharks, have recently reestablished the Egeda-FilmSharks Award. This recognition will be given in October to the most outstanding project from Iberseries Platino Industria’s Next Gen pitching events.

The prize includes FilmSharks obtaining global distribution rights for the winning project at Next Gen, an event that’s about to start its fourth edition and is a notable competition segment at Iberseries Platino Industria. This event takes place in Madrid from September 30th to October 3rd. This partnership has been extended for another year with this agreement.

One of the major television industry events in the Spanish-speaking world, Iberseries Platino Industria, was initiated in 2021. This event was established by Egeda, the leading rights management organization in Spain and Latin America, along with the Secuoya Foundation, a non-profit entity linked to Spanish content powerhouse Secuoya Content Group (“Zorro,” “Montecristo”).

From a meticulously compiled list of 250 entries, eight standout projects were chosen using Script, and these were honored as Next Gen Pitchings. These talented individuals, Nestor Lopez, Pablo de Chica, and Pilar Sancho, have been recognized. The titles showcased at Next Gen include the Berlin winner “20,000 Species of Bees,” directed by Estibaliz Urresola, as well as Alauda Ruíz de Azua’s debut work, “Lullaby.” Both of these projects have been part of the esteemed Incubator development program at the ECAM Madrid Film School.

The emphasis is on completed screenplay projects that are ready for presentation to professionals within the entertainment industry. This includes representatives from U.S studios and local production companies, prominent Video On Demand (VOD) platforms in Spain, Latin America, and the United States Hispanic market, as well as film distributors and financiers.

Carlos Antón of Egeda expressed great pleasure in reaffirming the agreement. He believes there’s no greater benefit for the Next Gen participants than receiving genuine feedback from esteemed global professionals,” said Egeda’s Carlos Antón.

I haven’t experienced such an electrifying, bustling, and cinematic assortment since the last time Egeda curated their selection. The Iberseries Platino Industria is an event that no film enthusiast like myself should miss on the festival market calendar.
