As a cinephile who appreciates stories that resonate with a global audience, I am truly captivated by the journey of Santiago Requejo and his latest project, “All in Favor.” The man has a Midas touch when it comes to turning ordinary situations into compelling narratives that not only entertain but also move us deeply.

The European distributor, Newen Connect, has taken on the task of bringing “All in Favor” to the big screen. This is a live-action version of the highly-acclaimed short film “Votamos,” created by Santiago Requejo.

“All in Favor” takes place in a downtown Madrid building, where a seemingly routine gathering of residents to discuss the upgrade of the elevator turns chaotic following the surprise revelation that a prospective tenant with psychological issues is moving into one of the apartments.

Requejo is penning and helming a feature film starring an impressive ensemble of actors such as Clara Lago (“Spanish Affair”), Gonzalo de Castro, Tito Valverde, Raul Fernandez de Pablo, Neus Sanz (“Volver”), Charo Reina, Christian Checa (“On the Fringe”), and Pepe Carrasco (“Way Down”).

The filmmaker expressed his conviction that “All in Favor” embodies universal themes, as its narrative has the ability to resonate, amuse, and stir emotions among individuals from various nations.

In 2021, Requejo’s short film was released and later garnered over 100 international awards, received a nomination for the Goya Awards, and made it to the shortlist for an Oscar. Collaborating with Javier Lorenzo and Raul Barranco, he adapted it into a stage play. The debut of this stage adaptation took place in Buenos Aires in April 2023.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that my latest review is for a captivating piece set to grace the screens at the upcoming American Film Festival. This masterpiece, which I’ve had the privilege of previewing, is being showcased by Newen in international marketplaces. They will be presenting this cinematic gem to potential buyers at the festival, and I can hardly wait for the world to see it!

Similar to the precursor short movie and stage production, this film is remarkably bold and significant, employing humor to address a contemporary and universally relevant topic in a compassionate and insightful manner,” expressed Alice Damiani, Senior Vice President of International Film Sales at Newen Connect.

The project named ‘All in Favor’ is being actively worked on right now, with an anticipated completion date in the third quarter of 2025.
