New trailer for Visions of Mana introduces Elemental Vessels

As a long-time fan of the Mana series, I must say that I am thrilled to see the evolution of the elements system with “Visions of Mana”. Having grown up playing these games and witnessing the integral role that elements have played in the plot devices of previous entries, it’s fascinating to see how they will be even more crucial in this new installment.

In just a few weeks, we’ll be experiencing a fresh addition to Square Enix’s Mana series – “Visions of Mana”. Recently, Square Enix shared a new 5-minute video via the PlayStation YouTube channel, showcasing the Elemental Vessels system, which is exclusive to “Visions of Mana”.

In the Mana series, elements have always played significant roles in the storyline. Most games feature these elements as crucial plot points. However, Visions of Mana takes it a step further with the addition of Elemental Vessels. These are eight unique items you’ll encounter, each linked to an element that you’ll discover throughout your adventure. By obtaining these vessels, you will unlock new classes for your party members and gain traversal abilities to help navigate the game world.

The Earth Vessel, or Gnome Shovel, strengthens your physical defense in battles by generating a stone shield which protects party members from incoming harm. For its unique attack, it rains down boulders on enemies from above. While roaming the open fields, you can control large clay golems that you encounter.

The Gnome Shovel unlocks the following classes:

  • Weapon Master for Val
  • Magus for Palamena
  • Ninja Master for Morley
  • Hunter for Julei
  • Warrior Monk for Careena

The Vessel of Light—the Lumina Lantern—can tether various enemies together, sharing the damage that one takes with the other. Alternatively, using its special area attack, the damage will be shared across all enemies. While exploring out in the field, it can create bridges of light.

The Lumina Lantern unlocks the following classes:

  • Paladin for Val
  • Archmage for Palamena
  • Sovereign for Moreley
  • High Cleric for Julei
  • Starlancer for Careena

1. The Vessel of Darkness, known as Shade Sight, will draw smaller foes towards you during battle, or if the enemy is larger, it’ll attract you instead. As a special attack, it creates a massive blackhole, drawing all adversaries into it and dealing continuous damage over time. For moving around, this vessel enables you to pull yourself to specific far-off objects or interact with them.

The Shade Sight unlocks the following classes:

  • Berserker for Val
  • Reaper for Palamena
  • Soothsayer for Moreley
  • Necromancer for Juleei
  • Maverick for Careena

On August 29, 2024, the game “Visions of Mana” along with its Elemental Vessels will be available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and personal computers (PC).
