New Steam game with fake CS2 skins used to scam players

Players of Counter-Strike 2 are now cautious due to a newly released game on Steam featuring in-game items resembling CS2 knives and skins, potentially leading to easy scams.

For a while now, merchandise related to Counter-Strike, such as weapon skins, knives, stickers, and gloves, have been a thriving market. Some top-tier skins can even cost tens of thousands of dollars, with new expensive items continually being introduced.

As a devoted enthusiast, I’ve noticed that due to their high worth, numerous frauds have surfaced over time. Some unscrupulous individuals have sworn to replicate them, claiming you could double or even triple your investment. However, these scams often turn out to be nothing more than a means for them to pocket the items, while others have devised counterfeit games that mimic CS, but are in fact deceiving and serve no purpose other than to mislead unsuspecting players like myself.

Around the end of June, a fresh game titled “Plumber’s Legacy” appeared on Steam, touted as a 2D platformer. What caught people’s attention, though, were the tradable items it offered on Valve’s platform, which bore a striking resemblance to CS2 weapon skins and knives, even featuring a similar game logo.

Fake CS2 skins from other games are back on Steam

A variety of CS2 enthusiasts, such as Ozzny, pointed out that “Deceitful individuals are trying to swap counterfeit CS2 Skins for genuine ones.

In one of the images, you’ll notice a replica of the Marble Fade butterfly knife from CS2 being exchanged for a lower-valued knife. The significant difference is that the Fade is associated with Plumber’s Legacy, rather than Counter-Strike.

“There’s other “fake skins” too, shoutout to u/Key-Appearance-7257 for finding this and

@RemixFloats for finding the fake karambit damascus steel,” Ozzny added.

A new scam has emerged, involving a game titled “Plumber’s Legacy.” In this game, some items resemble skins from CS2. However, beware! Fraudsters are trying to exchange these imitation CS2 Skins for genuine ones. Stay vigilant!

“Are steam moderators blind?” one fan asked. “This is so f*cking insane,” another added.

It’s important to mention that similar deceptive practices have been observed in other sham games as well. There are others running a similar scheme, but this particular one appears to be the most convincing so far. Not only does it employ branding associated with the Falcons and utilize them during the Major, but its authenticity is even more persuasive than these tactics alone might suggest.

Even though the game is no longer available on Steam, its in-game items can still be traded. Therefore, it’s crucial to stay vigilant and carefully scrutinize any trade offers.
