Studio ZA/UM (Disco Elysium) announced a new game: the spy RPG, Project C4.

The initial graphics, a teaser, and details about the project were unveiled by the Estonian developer; this project being one of the two that the studio seems to be primarily working on following the challenges encountered in recent times.

In the fictional Project C4, you’ll assume the character of an operator serving a hidden global power amidst a world filled with rival geopolitical forces. Your character will find himself embroiled in the complex “battle for truth and sway” between influential players, potentially jeopardizing his life or unmasking his identity.

In the realm of Project C4, it’s predicted that the power of the mind will supersede the physical world, as it is more adaptable and in certain aspects, more potent than tangible reality. The announcement also hinted at the manipulation and transformation of minds using psychotropic substances, allowing for erasure, alteration, reorganization, and substantial change.

As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that this upcoming game is shaping up to be a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium, promising deep dialogues, self-reflection, and dice rolls playing a significant part in the conflicts. In essence, it’s everything that made DE special. The project is being handled by Siim “Kosmos” Sinamae, one of the original developers of Disco Elysium, who remains at ZA/UM along with Jim Ashilevi, co-writer of the C4 script.

At the closed gathering, the developer’s creative ideas were further validated. This was particularly true of the captivating works by Stanislaw Lem and Ursula K. Le Guin, such as “Solaris” and “The Left Hand of Darkness,” along with the intriguing crime novels penned by John le Carré.
