New details on Spider-Man: Brand New Day have officially been shared by Sony Pictures.
CinemaCon 2026 is happening this week, and Sony Pictures is there to share news about its upcoming movies, including the next Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. ScreenRant is at the event, and Sony’s presentation revealed new details about the Tom Holland-led movie, including two new posters (shown below) and a description of some footage.
Peter is having a meal in a store when Ned arrives and buys something before leaving. Peter decides to follow him and discovers Ned is at a party with a new group of friends. After joining the party, Peter is offered a drink and notices a Chewbacca Lego piece on Ned’s desk, which he picks up. He then realizes Ned’s room is covered in Spider-Man research, as Ned is trying to figure out Spider-Man’s identity. Ned explains he’s created an app, Spidey-tracker, to collect sightings and believes either a teacher named Tom or Flash Thompson could be Spider-Man. MJ arrives, and Peter awkwardly introduces himself as Maynard, giving her flowers. She playfully calls him a friendly neighbor, causing him to cough. MJ and Ned then discuss her decision to turn down a job offer, with MJ feeling like she’s waiting for something significant to happen. A man named Eman Esfandi then joins MJ, calls her his girlfriend, and kisses her. Peter, visibly upset, watches them before leaving the party.
Okay, so the trailer just showed Spider-Man leaping from a building, and they flashed Sadie Sink’s face for a second. Then it was a bunch of clips we’ve already seen. But here’s the new stuff: it looks like Spidey’s in prison! We see him surrounded by guards, doing these incredible stretches, and then dodging bullets with his powers – it was seriously awesome!
Though Tom Holland couldn’t attend in person, he appeared via video message, where he enthusiastically described the new film as “big, fun, and cool… the most emotional Spider-Man, and in some ways, the most mature.” This marks his first return to the Spider-Man franchise since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Developing…
Spider-Man: Brand New Day lands in theaters on July 31.
