During CinemaCon 2026, Sony Pictures showed a sneak peek of the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While the clip hasn’t been released online, details about the scene have emerged. It opens with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in a convenience store, spotting his friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) entering to buy beer, seemingly unaware of Peter’s presence. Peter then follows Ned to a college party, where he discovers Ned has created a conspiracy board dedicated to Spider-Man.
Ned unexpectedly runs into Peter and shares his unusual mission: he’s trying to find Spider-Man, not to reveal his identity, but to personally thank him for saving his life years ago, during events shown in earlier Marvel movies. Ned explains he believes Spider-Man is either Flash Thompson, an old classmate, or Mr. Harrington, Peter’s teacher from previous films. He jokingly tells Peter that discovering the truth would be incredibly surprising.
Michelle Jones, known as MJ (played by Zendaya), arrives and jokes about how packed the apartment is, quipping that with so many people, there’s bound to be a couple of sociopaths. Peter, introducing himself as “Maynard,” tries to impress her with flowers, pretending they’re a housewarming gift and that he lives nearby – a setup for his later “friendly neighborhood” line. The scene ends with Peter watching MJ kiss her boyfriend, played by Eman Esfandi from Star Wars: Ahsoka.
Sony Pictures unveiled two initial posters for the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. One poster shows a reflection of MJ within Spider-Man’s mask. The other depicts Spider-Man battling the ninja organization known as The Hand. You can view both posters below.
I’m so excited about the new Spider-Man movie! Sony’s Tom Rothman has hinted that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be unlike anything they’ve ever done – huge in scope, but still feel fresh and new. Even Tom Holland, who sent a video message, described it as big, fun, and surprisingly emotional – he thinks it’s the most mature Spider-Man film yet. Mark your calendars, because we finally get to see it on July 31, 2026!
