New Single-Player D&D Game Coming From Star Wars Jedi Director’s New Studio

Despite all the buzz surrounding Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy, Wizards of the Coast’s other blockbuster franchise, Dungeons & Dragons, is also causing a stir. Today, it was announced that WOTC has signed a publishing deal with Giant Skull, a fresh development studio led by former Respawn and Sony Santa Monica team members, for a new video game based in the iconic tabletop RPG’s world.

According to the recent announcement, the new D&D game is described as a standalone action-adventure experience in the realm of Dungeons & Dragons, built using Unreal Engine 5. This project aims to cater to both console and PC users, but at present, no particular platforms have been officially confirmed.

In September 2023, Giant Skull was launched as a new venture by Stig Asmussen, a seasoned video game developer with a rich history. His past work includes serving as creative director for the final installment of the original God of War trilogy, and more recently, working on Star Wars Jedi games at Respawn Entertainment. Giant Skull’s inaugural project will be a Dungeons & Dragons game.

Among the recent video game ventures from Dungeons & Dragons, Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate III garnered global acclaim upon its release in August 2023.
