New PS5 System Update Makes The Activities Feature Less Confusing

As a seasoned gamer with decades of console wars under my belt, I must say, Sony never ceases to impress me with their updates. The latest PS5 Version 24.07-10.20.00 is no exception! The new Activities hub design is not only informative but also a breath of fresh air for those who enjoy organizing their gaming life.

The latest PS5 console upgrade, version 24.07-10.20.00, is now available, offering standard system improvement and bug fixes, along with an improved layout for the Activities hub. This revamp will alter how activities are presented based on whether they’re in progress, not started, or completed. The labels “In Progress,” “Not Started,” and “Completed” will be used instead. Additionally, this update aims to conceal potential spoilers.

Here are the full–and brief–patch notes from Sony:

The upcoming PS5 Pro is set to debut on November 7 for a price of $700, and in anticipation of its release, many games have received updates to align with it. This week, The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 were patched for the PS5 Pro, while Remedy Entertainment shared additional details about the PS5 Pro update for their survival-horror game, Alan Wake 2.

In the sequel of Alan Wake, players can once again opt for either Quality or Performance modes. However, a noticeable enhancement is seen in both settings, significantly surpassing the original PlayStation 5 release’s performance standards.

In Quality setting, the game operates at 30 frames per second, incorporating ray-tracing effects and a native 4K resolution that is upscaled from an original render resolution of 2176 x 1224 pixels. On the other hand, Performance mode offers a higher resolution (upscaled from 1536 x 864) and boasts more visual detail compared to the standard PS5 version.
