As a dedicated Pokemon fan, I’m beyond excited about the upcoming release of “Pokemon: Trainer Tour” on Prime Video and the Roku app! The fact that this isn’t your typical animated series but rather a reality show makes it even more intriguing.
As a long-time Pokemon fan, I must admit that I was taken aback when I heard the news that a new Pokemon show is making its debut this week. But what really caught me off guard was the fact that it’s not an animated series like we’re used to. Instead, it’s a reality show.
In a new Pokemon series titled “Pokemon: Trainer Tour,” Meghan “Strawburry17” Camarena and Andrew “Tricky Gym” Mahone, both well-known Pokemon content creators, take on the roles of hosts. The show documents their journey as they crisscross the country in a bus decorated with Pikachu themes. Along the way, they encounter and guide aspiring trainers who aim to strengthen bonds with their loved ones using their passion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. (Paraphrased from Variety)
The eight-episode series highlights people from the vastly varied Pokemon fan community, as stated by Andy Gose, a senior director of media production at The Pokemon Company.
In each episode, the trainers personally share their distinct life experiences, yet they all harbor a deep-rooted affection for the Pokemon brand and trading card game. We believe this enthusiasm will resonate with our audience, offering them a peek into the diverse experiences and heartfelt stories of dedicated Pokemon fans. We’re thrilled to bring you this behind-the-scenes series and highlight how meaningful connections are formed through the world of Pokemon TCG.
If competitive Pokémon gameplay is a part of the reality show, it goes unmentioned by Gose, suggesting that the program mainly centers around sharing the personal journeys of the trainers encountered by Camarena and Mahone in each episode.)
In Gose’s words, “We’re constantly seeking creative means to captivate our audience, content they can identify with, and to globalize the Pokemon phenomenon by building a connection with our fanbase. This is merely an illustration of our efforts; we’ll keep pushing forward in this direction. There are no bounds to our ambitions.”
Pokemon: Trainer Tour comes to Prime Video and the Roku app on Wednesday, July 31.
