New Marvel Disney+ Show Could Retcon Key MCU Events

A new Marvel Disney+ show could retcon some previous events that happened in the MCU.

Disney+ will soon be home to several new Marvel shows. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again arrives next month, and fans can look forward to VisionQuest and the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man sometime in 2026.

What Marvel Disney+ show could retcon key MCU events?

I’m really excited to hear from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus that Marvel is thinking about a show focused on the Ten Rings! Apparently, they’re aiming for a similar vibe to the upcoming ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ series, which is planned for 2025. It sounds like it could be a really interesting direction for the MCU.

If this project goes ahead, it might change or rewrite things that have already occurred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Perez, Marvel Studios is considering a Ten Rings project with a scope similar to the planned ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ series. The idea is to showcase the organization’s long history and its hidden influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing how it has operated behind the scenes since the very beginning. This would involve the Ten Rings interacting with key moments and characters throughout MCU history, including events involving the Eternals, the Red Room, World War II, and more recent storylines.

The Ten Rings is a centuries-old criminal group recently highlighted in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. While Iron Man 3 featured a similar organization led by Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian (with Ben Kingsley portraying a false Mandarin in promotional material), the true Ten Rings was founded by the immortal Xu Wenwu, played by Tony Leung. After the events of Shang-Chi, Wenwu dies, and his daughter, Xu Xialing (played by Meng’er Zhang), takes control of the organization.

Currently, this is just a rumor. Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced any plans for a Ten Rings show, so it’s best not to take this news as confirmed.
