New Lonely Island Song ‘Sushi Glory Hole’ Premieres on ‘SNL’; Raps About Secret Sushi Spots Around NYC

As a seasoned movie buff with over three decades of watching Saturday Night Live (SNL), I must say that the Lonely Island‘s latest digital short “Sushi Glory Hole” is a testament to their unparalleled wit and creativity. The trio, alongside SNL alumna Maya Rudolph, have once again managed to spin an absurd concept into a hilarious reality.

In the inaugural tune of the 50th season of “SNL,” the cherished threesome consisting of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer unveiled “Sushi Glory Hole,” a comical skit based on an imaginary app that lets you discover sushi hidden in bathroom stalls across New York.

Actress Maya Rudolph, formerly of “SNL” and currently playing Vice President Kamala Harris in the latest season, participated in the video segment. In the opening, she addressed her co-stars with a query: “Gentlemen, what do we have for us today?

Samberg rhymed, “Sushi vending machine,” then added, “Picture that instead of questionable items, you’d have a tasty treat.” The chorus repeated, “Give us your attention, give us your attention, give us your attention,” as they tried to convince others to join their venture.

In 1980s business attire, the Lonely Island group, along with Bowen Yang, delivered a rap about sushi in bathrooms, using suggestive lyrics such as, “Kneel down, prepare for some fish.” The comedic digital short showcased creative and alluring visuals of sushi being passed through gaps in bathroom walls. They sang, “Hurry to the restroom stall, discover a sushi-fitting hole in the wall.

They instructed me to check the map displayed on their phone, which highlighted multiple ‘SGH’ locations across Manhattan, where one could discover an unusual yet delightful sushi establishment. They continued to advocate for this unique food business concept, reassuring me by saying, ‘There’s no cause for alarm. It’s not strange. It’s just sushi being served through a small opening in the wall.’

They expressed their thoughts on various suitable scenarios for a “SGH.” Samberg crooned about the glamourous sushi experiences hidden within nightclubs, praising it as superior to street-side dining. His lyrics encourage, “Dare to dream and brace yourself for some exceptionally top-notch seafood.

“Don’t leave, hear us out. No substitutions or special requests,” they said.

Comedian Nate Bargatze made a special appearance, while Coldplay provided the music for this particular episode.
