New inZOI demo raises hopes of a real The Sims rival. Many players were unfairly outraged at the devs

Yesterday on Steam, InZOI: Creative Studio debuted – it’s essentially a trial version of what’s being called the “Sims slayer.” Players can try out the Character Studio (character creator) and Build Studio (building tool). While it was evident from the start that this is just a sneak peek at the final game, some gamers were caught off guard by its nature. On the other hand, many are enjoying themselves immensely and can’t wait for more, as long as they can successfully run the demo.

“I can’t play the game” posts

It’s striking to note that the Steam forum has numerous player comments revealing their disappointment, stating that the demo for inZOI: Creative Studio fails to present a “game,” suggesting they may have overlooked the project’s nature.

Because of this confusion, allegedly sparked by an influx of TikTok videos and live streams (with some developers gaining early access), a plea for understanding was made.

Will inZOI sweep The Sims 4 off the board?

Nevertheless, numerous gamers enter the realm of Creative Studio with eagerness. They highlight the benefits of the character builder and the availability of intriguing tools for construction. Some users even suggest that inZOI has potential to surpass The Sims 4.

After just 10 minutes diving into Creative Studio, I’m completely blown away! It feels like we’ve stepped back into The Sims 3 era of character customization, but even better! With this tool, you can import 3D objects from your own graphic files and craft unique items right within the game. AG2590 hit the nail on the head with that description!

In her words, The Queen expressed fondness for the intricate character customization and its appealing visuals. Yet, she mentioned dissatisfaction with the selection of attire. She hopes for a wider variety in future updates. Some garments didn’t seem to suit her character appropriately, particularly shorts and one-piece outfits.

In the upcoming updates, developers promise to add new outfits, a fact supported by their official plan (or schedule).

How about inZOI’s optimization?

In simpler terms, it’s been reported that Creative Studio runs smoothly, even on systems with lower specs. This was unexpectedly good news given the recently revealed system requirements for the game. Many users have shared their positive experiences with the gameplay on online forums.

Give another try to this demo as it’s running exceptionally well, even on high settings, which is impressive given my hardware isn’t top-tier – I’ve got an RTX 3060 Ti. Surprisingly, everything seems to run smoothly. However, the true test will be launching the actual game in full gear to see how it performs.

Some people admit that even on very low settings, the game looks great.

Technical issues

Nonetheless, it seems that some users have encountered issues. Some players mention that the demo fails to start on occasion, with numerous discussions about this issue on Steam forums. Additionally, there are instances of minor graphical glitches such as texture overlaps. On top of that, others notice issues regarding blurred objects during building processes. It’s expected that many of these bugs will be resolved before the final version of the game hits the shelves.

Despite varying responses towards the “demo,” such as awe or puzzlement about its material, it’s indisputable that inZOI has captured a notable amount of interest. This is demonstrated by the fact that more than 10,000 players are currently testing Creative Studio (according to SteamDB.info).

On March 28th, the complete edition of the game will be made available for early access. This is when we’ll discover if inZOI truly stands a chance against the dominance of The Sims series.
