New CoD: Warzone Map Area 99 Is Where Nuketown Was Born

As a hardcore Call of Duty fan with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Area 99 for Warzone is like a dream come true! Ever since the first Nuketown graced our screens back in Black Ops, I’ve been captivated by its charm and fast-paced action.

In the upcoming update for Call of Duty: Warzone, a fresh map named Area 99 will debut, potentially marking one of the most exciting new map designs in years for the franchise. This map is uniquely based on a secretive testing facility that doubles as a production site for multiple Nuketowns, along with some ominous, clandestine products.

Area 99 serves to unfold the backstory of Nuketown, following the usual pattern of this map by promoting intense and swift interactions. Within it, you’ll find a residential area being built, complete with a nuclear power plant, dummy-mannequin assembly center, worker dormitories in pods, and an underground shelter. The bunker stands out, as it links to every other point of interest, potentially leading to unforeseen surprise attacks. Additionally, within the Nuketown manufacturing district, there’s a secret zipline, but Treyarch kept quiet about its exact location.

In Area 99, the futuristic-retro vibe of Nuketown is evident throughout, sharing similarities with Fallout in its dark humor. Scattered across the map, you’ll come across a character named Archie dishing out tips instead of propaganda. Keep an eye on the horizon in the Nevada desert, as there might be something interesting to spot if you look closely.

During the Call of Duty Next event, Warzone was merely one of several highlights Activision presented. To discover additional details, delve into our insights regarding Zombies, competitive multiplayer, and the upcoming beta.
