An innovative app that encourages users to physically touch real grass as they navigate through social media platforms is currently trending, earning a lot of praise from people due to its unique concept.

Over time, there’s been a significant surge of people showing keen interest in social media platforms. Applications such as TikTok and Instagram make it incredibly effortless to lose track of time while endlessly browsing for hours daily.

Rhys Kentish, an iOS developer, has designed an iPhone application with the goal of reducing excessive social media use. This unique app prevents access to social media platforms until you have taken and shared a photo of yourself physically touching real grass.

“I built an app to stop me doomscrolling by touching grass,” said Kentish in his reveal post on X.

In the video provided, you’ll notice an app named ‘Touch Grass.’ In this app, when a user receives a notification, they can simply tap on it which takes them directly to the camera viewfinder.

Step outside, snap a photo of yourself with the grass, then enjoy 15 minutes, an hour, until sunset, or the whole day of uninterrupted app usage.

Starting March 14, 2025, you have the option to pre-save the app. As per its App Store description, by making a purchase, you can gain the privilege to bypass the need for grass contact. It’s worth noting that half of these earnings will be donated to UK Rewilding Projects.

“Reduce your screen time while helping restore natural habitats,” it reads.

In simple terms, the app spread like wildfire throughout X and an overwhelming number of enthusiasts rushed to express their opinions on the groundbreaking software by commenting in the reply section.
