In its second weekend, the movie titled “The Amateur,” produced by 20th Century Studios and starring Rami Malek as Charlie Heller, a CIA cryptographer seeking vengeance for his wife’s murder (Rachel Brosnahan), has underperformed in terms of box office earnings. This debut took place alongside the release of “A Minecraft Movie” on April 11, during its second weekend. Despite predictions that it would come in at No. 2, trailing behind the smash hit video game adaptation, it actually debuted at No. 3 instead, placing below the record-breaking faith-based animated film “The King of Kings,” which held the top spot during its opening weekend.

According to Variety, as of Sunday morning, the film “The Amateur” is expected to finish its second weekend in cinemas with a global earnings of approximately $64 million. This figure comprises a domestic income of $27 million and $37 million from international sales. Although this revenue barely surpasses the movie’s reported budget of $60 million, it still falls significantly short of its estimated break-even point, which is likely around $150 million. Given that 20th Century Studios is under Disney’s ownership, this box office performance represents another disappointment following the poor performance of “Snow White.
