Netflix's Tomb Raider Animated Series Gets Action-Packed First Trailer

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the news of Lara Croft gracing our screens once again in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has filled me with an excitement reminiscent of finding a rare artifact while raiding tombs. Having grown up with Lara as a childhood heroine, it’s heartening to see her early adventures being brought to life in this animated series.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Netflix, in partnership with Powerhouse Animation, is set to introduce Lara Croft in the animated realm through Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, premiering on October 10. Back in September last year, we were given a sneak peek into this series, which centers around Lara’s early escapades, continuing her story after the Survivor trilogy game (Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider). Now, following nearly a year, we’ve finally been treated to our first teaser trailer, offering a glimpse into Lara’s upcoming adventures.

As a devoted Lara Croft admirer, I find myself following her journey as she leaves her companions behind for solitary, ever-dangerous quests. However, when a menacing Chinese artifact is swiped from Croft Manor by a thief with an eerie personal connection, Lara feels compelled to return home. This daring chase will lead her across continents and into hidden tombs, testing her limits and compelling her to face her inner demons, ultimately deciding the kind of hero she aspires to be.

Previously declared, Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) lends her voice to Lara Croft. Alongside her, Earl Baylon, known for voicing Jonah in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, returns for the series as well. Furthermore, Allen Maldonado (Heels, The Last OG) has been cast to voice Zip, a character previously featured in Tomb Raider Chronicles, Legend, and Underworld.

2021 saw the initial announcement of Tomb Raider: Lara Croft’s Legend, with Tasha Huo, a fresh face in the industry from The Witcher: Blood Origin, stepping into the role of showrunner and executive producer.

As a long-time fan of the iconic Lara Croft, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr announced they would be releasing the first three Tomb Raider games in a single package for both console and PC earlier this year. Having grown up playing these classics and reminiscing about my gaming adventures, it felt like a dream come true to revisit those early days of Lara Croft’s journey with updated visuals that make them feel fresh and modern. The experience has been nothing short of exhilarating, as I’ve relived the challenges, puzzles, and excitement that made Tomb Raider an unforgettable part of my gaming history.
