The Scooby-Doo reboot on Netflix has landed its first cast member.
McKenna Grace will star as Daphne Blake in the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series on Netflix, according to Deadline. The show is being produced by Greg Berlanti, known for his work on popular franchises like the Arrowverse and Netflix hits such as You and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Grace quickly confirmed she’d been cast in the project as well. She shared her excitement on Instagram – you can read her announcement below.
Okay, I’m seriously geeking out! The actor from Regretting You just posted the most adorable message – they were practically in tears of joy over the news, saying they can’t believe this is actually happening! It’s so sweet. And get this – Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who I’m a huge fan of, are going to be running the show for the Netflix adaptation. I’m already counting down the days!
This isn’t the first time Grace has portrayed Daphne. She previously voiced a young Daphne in the 2020 animated film Scoob!, making this the second time she’s taken on the role.
Grace, known for her role in the upcoming Scream 7, often plays younger versions of characters in both movies and TV shows. For example, she previously portrayed a younger version of Kiernan Shipka’s character in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Now that the news is out, casting is officially happening for the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang – Shaggy, Velma, and Fred. Netflix describes the upcoming series as a fresh take on the classic story, focusing on how the group first came together.
The first season of Scooby-Doo centers around Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred reuniting at Camp Ruby-Spears to investigate the disappearance of a Great Dane puppy. They suspect the puppy may have seen something related to a mysterious death. The show was officially approved for eight episodes in March 2025.
Netflix’s Scooby-Doo TV show has yet to land a premiere date.
