Currently, Netflix is scouting for a fresh audience focus for their upcoming sports-themed comedy roast, and it seems they’ve got a renowned golfer in mind as a potential subject.
At the initial stage of the streaming platform’s GROAT (Greatest Roast of All Time) event, it was Tom Brady, a legendary football figure, who became the target of the roasts.
It’s no wonder they’re searching for another subject after Netflix viewers collectively watched 1.67 billion minutes of Brady being criticized by his fellow football players and comedians.
Reportedly, as per Jeff Sneider’s insights from Hollywood, Netflix aims to secure an interview with famous golfer Tiger Woods, placing him in the spotlight for a future chat.
Woods is seen as one of the best golf players of all time as he currently is tied for first in PGA Tour wins (82), with fellow legacy player Sam Snead. He was the youngest player to ever win all four major golf championships (Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship) during the early years of his career.
Similar to Brady, Woods is recognized as an exceptional athlete of his generation within the golf community and beyond, earning widespread acclaim.
The successful golfer might be an ideal choice for a Netflix roast, as the controversies that have arisen during his public life could provide rich inspiration for humorous scriptwriting.
In 2009, the notoriously known scandal involved US Weekly reporting about the golfer’s long-term affair with a woman, which they also verified by publishing a voice message he had left for her.
Despite his confession regarding the incident through a statement where he referred to it as a “mistake” and expressing remorse towards his family and supporters, approximately a dozen other women subsequently reported having had relationships with him.
In August 2010, after confessing to various extramarital affairs, Tiger Woods’ marriage to Elin Nordegren ultimately disintegrated, having lasted for six years during which they raised two children together.
During Brady’s roast, his divorce from model Giselle Bündchen was a major focus, implying that Woods might face similar treatment during his roast, given the attention it could attract.
At time this, Netflix has not confirmed if Woods will be the face of the next GROAST.
