Netflix has given the go-ahead for a reimagining of Stephen King’s chilling novel “Cujo,” which revolves around a desperate mother and her child, cornered in their vehicle as they try to elude a menacing, rabid canine.
Roy Lee (“Barbarian”) is set to produce the upcoming remake of the film “Cujo,” as reported by Deadline, although no writer, director, or cast members have been confirmed yet. Stephen King’s 1981 novel was previously adapted for the screen in a 1983 film named after the book, directed by Lewis Teague and featuring Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh Kelly, and Danny Pintauro in the lead roles. In theaters, “Cujo” grossed $21 million globally (unadjusted for inflation), with a budget of $6 million.
Stephen King’s novels span various genres including horror, science fiction, crime, and fantasy, have served as a significant source of inspiration for numerous films like “Carrie,” “The Shining,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Stand By Me,” “It,” and its sequel “It: Chapter Two.”
