As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that recently, it was announced that Netflix and Embratur, the Brazilian Tourist Board, have entered into a partnership. This collaboration, unveiled on Friday, is all about amplifying tourism by showcasing Brazilian cinematic productions. The idea is to create a replicable model that could potentially be utilized in other countries. This exciting development not only enhances our global understanding of Brazil’s rich cultural tapestry but also invites us to explore its breathtaking landscapes firsthand!
During the Rio2C creativity event held from May 27th to June 1st in Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Freixo (President of Embratur) and Mariana Polidorio (Netflix’s Director of Public Policy for Brazil) revealed their agreement. This panel discussion also featured Fernanda Souza, the host of the popular Netflix reality show “Stranded With My Mother-In-Law.
This collaboration signifies an investment in the allure and atmosphere of Brazilian narratives, which are expected to entice travelers worldwide.
Drawing inspiration from the triumphs of Netflix’s top shows in places like France and Spain, this endeavor features a promotional video showcasing the touristic appeal of locations used in productions that have gripped worldwide audiences – for instance, “Invisible City,” filmed in the Amazon rainforest, and “Love Is Blind Brazil,” which was shot at sites such as Trancoso, Bahia, Bom Jardim da Serra, Santa Catarina, and “Sintonia,” emphasizing the urban vistas of São Paulo’s outskirts.
Freixo stated that audiovisual content serves as a potent tool and valuable resource for tourism marketing, as many individuals pick their travel locations influenced by movies or TV shows they’ve seen. The world appreciates the quality of Brazilian content and talent, which embodies our cultural heritage, and continues to win affection globally. This collaboration aims to transform the power of Brazilian narratives into genuine interactions between people.
The collaboration encompasses the debut of a travel handbook, showcasing journey plans and local tourist attractions inspired by popular Netflix series that boast significant domestic and international viewership – shows embodying the key cultural treasures Brazil Tourism Board (Embratur) intends to showcase. This publication will hit the market towards the end of this year and will spotlight the natural and cultural riches championed by Embratur.
Polidorio stated that our dedication towards Brazil is lasting. He explained that the narratives we share play a pivotal role in showcasing the country globally, influencing its economy, culture, and tourism directly – for both local and foreign viewers.
