Things seem to have shifted regarding the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again, as an actor who previously played a role on Netflix’s Daredevil has stated he will not be involved. Elden Henson’s character, Foggy Nelson, was killed off by the villain Bullseye in the first episode of Born Again Season 1, after appearing in the first three seasons of the original, mature-themed superhero series. However, despite his character’s death, there were online reports and even suggestions from people working on the show that Foggy Nelson might return in Season 2.
However, if recent statements from the actor who played Foggy are accurate, Henson might not be involved in the project anymore. During Comic-Con LA, Henson was questioned about Foggy’s return for Season 2 of Born Again, and the former Netflix star stated he is no longer participating.
When asked if Foggy would appear in the next season (as reported by Cosmic Marvel on X), Henson simply stated, “He’s not.”
This news follows the earlier confirmation that his character would be in Born Again Season 2. This suggests that either the plans have shifted, or Henson is deliberately downplaying his likely return.
In March 2025, Brad Winderbaum, who leads TV, streaming, and animation at Marvel Studios, hinted that both Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s character, Karen Page “will return for Season 2.” Even though Foggy seemingly died in the show’s first season, Winderbaum confirmed their return.
I won’t reveal any plot details, but I can confirm that both Deborah and Elden will be returning for Season 2.
He also stated that a story featuring Matt Murdock simply needs those two characters to move the plot forward in the upcoming episodes. However, Henson’s recent statements have complicated what was previously understood about his potential return.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026. The upcoming, mature-themed streaming series features Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock, who finds himself in a conflict with Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), the notorious crime boss who has now become the Mayor of New York City.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited for Season 2! It looks like we’re going to see some familiar faces return from the old Netflix Daredevil series. Specifically, Deborah Ann Woll is coming back as Karen Page, and Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones. There’s also a good chance we might see Finn Jones as Iron Fist and Mike Colter as Luke Cage again, which would be amazing! I can’t wait to see how they all fit into the new story.
Will Foggy Nelson Come Back in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
It seemed pretty certain that Elden Henson would reprise his role as Foggy Nelson for Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, but recent statements from the actor have complicated things.
Brad Winderbaum seemed quite certain that Foggy would return in March. However, that might not happen now.
When Winderbaum hinted at Foggy’s return, many people thought we’d only see the character in brief scenes from the past, shown throughout the upcoming episodes. Considering the show brought back the frightening Muse from the dead in Season 2, flashbacks seemed like the most logical way to feature Foggy in a cameo appearance.
As a big fan, I’ve been thinking about this shift in the story, specifically regarding Foggy. It seems like the writers may have decided to move away from using a lot of flashbacks in Season 2. This could unfortunately mean they’ve essentially written Foggy out of the main storyline, leaving him in the rearview mirror, so to speak. It’s a bit disappointing, as I really enjoyed his character and thought flashbacks could have been a great way to explore his backstory further. It feels like a significant change in direction. Hopefully we’ll see him again, but this definitely feels like a shift away from earlier plans.
Even though Foggy may no longer be alive, his influence will continue to be noticed throughout the superhero streaming series. He’s still an important figure in Matt Murdock/Daredevil’s life, even if he doesn’t make any physical appearances on the show. His presence will be felt through the story.
