Wow, the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has really gotten me thinking! Everyone’s buzzing about whether we might see Matt Murdock show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and honestly, I can totally see it happening. The season felt like a big turning point for the more grounded, street-level heroes in the MCU, almost wrapping up the story that started with season one. But it definitely left doors open for what comes next, hinting at potential appearances in other Marvel shows and movies. I’m so excited to see where they take it all!
There’s a lot of excitement around the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled to come out in July 2026. Even though Spider-Man wasn’t in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, fans are still speculating about a potential team-up between these two heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This isn’t a new idea – people have been suggesting a connection between Spider-Man and Daredevil for about ten years now.
Following the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which featured a storyline where New York City fell under the control of a strict, anti-vigilante government, fans increasingly wanted to see Spider-Man appear in the show. Many viewers find it hard to accept that Spider-Man wouldn’t have intervened against Wilson Fisk and his task force.
With Matt Murdock now in prison at the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, fans are speculating about how Spider-Man might become involved in the story.
An MCU Theory Claims Spider-Man Breaks Matt Murdock Out Of Prison
A popular fan theory originates from a scene in the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The trailer showcased several exciting things, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, who also appears in Daredevil. But one detail that caught many viewers’ attention was Spider-Man battling multiple ninjas dressed in red, a visual element strongly reminiscent of Daredevil.
The ninjas seem to be connected to The Hand, a secret group that first appeared in the second season of the Netflix series Daredevil. While The Hand is visible in the trailer for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day game, a specific scene has led fans to believe it’s connected to the Daredevil: Born Again series. In this scene, Spider-Man is shown facing off against members of The Hand inside a prison.
At the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Matt Murdock was sent to jail after publicly admitting he was Daredevil in court. Combined with a glimpse of Spider-Man in prison and the connection between Daredevil and The Hand, this has led fans to believe Daredevil will show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
It’s hard to figure out a logical reason for Spider-Man to break Matt Murdock (Daredevil) out of prison based on the current storyline, but that’s the main idea behind this theory. Some fans believe Matt’s public unmasking will cause The Hand to try and kill him while he’s incarcerated, and Spider-Man will intervene to save him. However, how this connects to the larger Brand New Day story is just speculation at this point.
The re-emergence of The Hand in Brand New Day, along with the Punisher’s involvement and hints of a prison plot, have sparked a lot of fan speculation, and many are hoping Marvel delivers on what they want to see.
Would Daredevil Appearing In Spider-Man: Brand New Day Work?
From a fan’s perspective, it would be amazing to see Daredevil in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and would likely be a huge hit with audiences. But when considering the story itself, it’s worth asking if a Daredevil appearance would actually fit well into the 2026 movie.
We’ve seen before how big TV shows can sometimes weaken their own storylines by bringing in characters from other series. A good example is how The Book of Boba Fett affected The Mandalorian, and how that connection then impacted The Mandalorian‘s third season. There’s a risk of this happening again with the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again. Some fans speculate that Daredevil might appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and that crossover could potentially harm the focus of Daredevil‘s story.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again had a significant impact on Matt’s story. It’s important that the show doesn’t simply reset to Matt being Daredevil with a brief mention of Spider-Man helping him, as that would diminish the importance of the season finale. The creators clearly have a specific direction planned for Daredevil: Born Again moving forward, and a guest appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day could potentially disrupt those plans.
When it comes to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, there’s no established reason for Daredevil to be involved. Right now, Spider-Man rescuing Matt Murdock from prison and fighting The Hand alongside him would just feel random—it would have to happen simply for the sake of being exciting. Based on what we’ve seen of Spider-Man: Brand New Day so far, there’s no logical connection between the two characters’ stories.
I’m really excited about the new Spider-Man movie! From what I’ve heard, it’s going to delve into Peter Parker’s struggles with feeling alone, show him changing and becoming a different kind of Spider-Man, and pit him against Mac Gargan, aka the Scorpion. Plus, it sounds like a new villain will bring the Hulk into the mix! They’re also hinting at The Hand and the Punisher being involved, and while I love Daredevil and would be thrilled to see him team up with Spidey, I worry adding him to everything else would just make the story too crowded and messy. It’s a tough call, because Daredevil would be amazing, but it might not be the best thing for the movie’s plot.
Sooner Or Later, Daredevil & Spider-Man Need To Cross Paths
Even if Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn’t the perfect way to bring them together, Daredevil and Spider-Man need to team up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The demand for this crossover is huge – it might be the most fans have ever wanted to see!
As a big fan of both Spider-Man and Daredevil, I’ve always loved seeing them team up in the comics. They share so many villains and operate in the same gritty corner of New York, it just makes sense! With the new Daredevil: Born Again series really focusing on that street-level world, it feels like a huge mistake if Spider-Man doesn’t show up at some point. Whether it’s a nod to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline or something new in a future season of Daredevil: Born Again, they need to cross paths. It would be amazing!
A Spider-Man & Daredevil Team-Up Would Bring Tom Holland’s Character Back To His Roots
Beyond just being an exciting pairing, a team-up between Spider-Man and Daredevil could help Spider-Man return to his original focus. Some fans feel Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has become too caught up in large-scale events. After being mentored by Tony Stark, battling Thanos, and experiencing multiversal adventures, it might be good for the MCU to portray Spider-Man as a more local, street-level hero again.
The recent Spider-Man comics, Brand New Day, feel like a fresh start, and future storylines should build on this momentum. A team-up between Spider-Man and Daredevil would be a great way to do that, pleasing fans and also enriching Tom Holland’s portrayal of the hero. While this collaboration might not appear immediately in Brand New Day, or even in the second season of the Daredevil: Born Again series despite current speculation, it feels inevitable and likely to happen soon.
