Netflix will be bringing to life “The Map of Dreams,” the highly praised novel penned by Spanish writer Alice Kellen, which was first released through Editorial Planeta.
The upcoming story is set to be adapted into a miniseries for television. This miniseries will be penned by Isa Sánchez, known for her work on “When No One Sees Us,” and produced by Brutal Media, the Spanish partner of the BBC. This collaboration indicates the BBC’s persisting engagement with the Spanish media sector. Notably, Brutal Media has previously worked on productions such as “Bank Under Siege” and “Welcome to Eden.
The mini-series narrates a poignant tale about Greta, a determined woman who feels her mission in life is to save her sister Lucy from leukemia by donating her stem cells. Sadly, Lucy succumbs to the disease, leaving Greta devastated and uncertain. Prior to her demise, Lucy devises “The Map of Dreams,” an emotional game that inspires Greta to cope with her sorrow and find her own destiny. During this journey, she encounters Will, a puzzling young man burdened by his past. The series delves into themes of grief, recovery, and the question of whether one can genuinely love others until learning to love oneself first.
