‘Nepobaby,’ Norwegian Drama About Woman Who Discovers She’s an Heiress, Casts Vivild Falk Berg in Lead Role

As a seasoned movie critic who has spent decades navigating the silver screen, I must say that “Nepobaby” piques my interest with its intriguing premise and star-studded cast. Having watched numerous tales of unexpected inheritances and family secrets unfold on the big screen, I can’t help but be drawn to this Norwegian drama.

In the Norwegian drama “Nepobaby,” which airs on TV2, Vivild Falk Berg, known for his work in “Pørni,” has been chosen to play the main character.

Berg is set to portray Emma, a 25-year-old woman from a working-class background, who unexpectedly learns that she’s the offspring of a wealthy Norwegian ship tycoon.

The news is startling, and what’s more astounding is her inclusion in his will, receiving a significant share of the family business. However, the inheritance brings an even bigger surprise – the discovery of four unknown siblings.

Emma’s brothers and sisters are set to be portrayed by Nicolai Cleve Broch (known for “The Sandhamn Murders”), Henriette Steenstrup, Kristin Grue, and Helle Ryg Eia in this production.

The television series was developed by actress and producer Henriette Steenstrup, as well as Siri Seljeseth. Steenstrup stated that living with privilege can distort one’s perception of reality, and immense wealth has the potential to unsettle even the most grounded individuals. The show “Nepobaby” aims to deliver an engaging, humorous, thrilling, and emotionally resonant narrative about the influence of money on our families, relationships, and self-identity.

The six-episode series, produced jointly by Eldorado Content Club and co-distribution partners Oble and Nordisk Film Distribution, is scheduled to debut on TV2 in Norway. It has also been pre-purchased by RUV in Iceland. Nordisk will handle distribution within the Nordic regions while Oble handles the rest of the world.

As a fan, I’d say: “I found ‘Nepobaby’ to be a delightful mix of heartfelt drama and clever wit, centered around a charming character that makes you ponder – if I suddenly came into a fortune or won the lottery, would my fundamental values and identity shift or stay the same? This is exactly what grabbed me when Katia Sol, co-founder of Oble, expressed her thoughts about Eldorado Content Club’s pitch.

Jes Brandhøj, sales director at Nordisk, commented: “The film ‘Nepobaby’ offers a distinctive portrayal of class conflicts by giving us an up-close look at the exclusive realm of the upper class, seen through the eyes of someone from a contrasting background. It skillfully weaves humor and drama, offering a novel and captivating viewpoint on life and the intricacies of family relationships.
