Neon Genesis Evangelion is a truly iconic anime, and many fans still consider it one of the best ever made. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, creator Hideaki Anno is planning a special event for fans, and it’s even bigger than the previously announced exhibit. This new celebration feels more fitting for such a groundbreaking series and its story of defending Earth’s future.
The classic anime *Neon Genesis Evangelion* is making a comeback to Japanese television. It will begin airing on Television Kanagawa on October 3rd, followed by Television Hokkaido and Television Shizuoka on October 4th. Beyond the original episodes, a special program called “FM EVA 30.0” will also air from October until March 2026. This program will feature the creators, voice actors, and singers involved in the series, sharing stories about making the anime and showcasing fan-made animations inspired by their experiences.
All Things Eva
As we discussed before, *Evangelion* is hosting a massive exhibit called “All of Evangelion” this November, and it will run through January. This isn’t just an art show; it’s designed to fully immerse fans back into the series. According to the official website, the exhibit will feature a striking entrance with a large Unit-01 figure, plus never-before-seen production materials – including original artwork from the TV series and the new movies – offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the show’s incredible world was built.
I’m so excited! Japan is getting a fantastic re-release of all the *Evangelion* films as part of “Monthly Eva EVANGELION 30th MOVIE Fest. 2025-2026” – basically, they’re bringing the Rebuild series back to theaters! It’s a huge celebration of thirty years of *Evangelion*, and while it’s only confirmed for Japan right now, I’m really hoping we in North America get to see NERV battling the Angels on the big screen too. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Hideaki Anno hadn’t previously indicated any plans to continue the *Evangelion* story, though he’d suggested a return to the franchise was possible. In 2024, he revealed that a new series was being considered, but details are still unknown. Given that both the original anime and the recent movies had definitive conclusions, it’s unclear what direction this potential new anime might take.
