As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming crossover event for Goddess of Victory: NIKKE featuring characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion has me more excited than Gendo Ikari when he finally gets to plug into Unit-01. The trailer alone was a masterclass in fan service, emulating the visual style and iconic moments of the anime while also integrating elements unique to NIKKE.
In a recent announcement, Shift Up Developer revealed that a new crossover event for their shooter-RPG game Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is set to take place, featuring characters from the iconic Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series who will become playable characters in the game. This exciting event kicks off on August 22, 2024.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped to share some exciting news about an upcoming crossover event called “You Can (Not) Evade.” Shift Up just released a freshly minted animated trailer for it!
NIKKE x Evangelion Crossover Trailer
The opening scene adopts the aesthetic and title design reminiscent of Evangelion episodes, along with a tribute to the first installment of Rebuild of Evangelion, by depicting the assault of Angel Ramiel, the octahedron entity that threatened Tokyo-3 with a devastating energy weapon. Characters like Asuka Langley, Rei Ayanami, and Mari Makinami are spotted in their recognizable plugsuit outfits, wielding unfamiliar firearms. Misato Katsuragi is also featured, though her playability remains uncertain. Among the characters from NIKKE, Rapi, Anis, and Neon make an appearance, accompanied by novel figures such as Ein, Marciana, Zwei, and another Rei.
In the announcements for promotional content, Shift Up has revealed that Asuka, Rei, and Mari will join the playable characters, accessible via a special gacha banner. At present, their weapon types are undetermined; however, based on the promotional video, it seems Asuka might be an Assault Rifle character, while Rei could be either a Machine Gun or Rocket Launcher character. Mari may turn out to be a Sniper Rifle character. Information from data miners on social media also verifies that all three characters will have various costumes up for acquisition. In the past, NIKKE has associated costumes with a battle pass-like system requiring separate purchase, as well as through a separate, limited gacha-style prize roulette.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the fifth crossover event in NIKKE, a game I hold dear. The first event saw the integration of characters from the Chainsaw Man anime, followed by the introduction of 2B from NieR: Automata. The third event brought characters from the Re:Zero anime series into the mix, and the fourth was a mini-event that aligned with the game’s summer seasonal festivities. This special event featured a minigame and costumes inspired by Dave the Diver. Each crossover event brings a new level of excitement to the game, making it even more immersive for fans like me!
The game “NIKKE” can be played on iOS, Android devices, and personal computers. The Evangelion collaboration event is set to start on the 22nd of August, 2024.
