Neil Patrick Harris Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ as Guest Star

Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast of “Dexter: Resurrection” as a guest star.

Information regarding the character portrayed by the “How I Met Your Mother” actor remains unclear, with only his character’s name – Lowell – disclosed.

Filming for the sequel series of “Dexter” on Showtime commenced in New York City back in January. The anticipated premiere is scheduled for this coming summer, simultaneously airing on both Paramount+ and Showtime.

I’m excited to jump back into the world of Dexter, where I’ll be reprising my role as Dexter Morgan! Joining me this season are some incredible talents, such as Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Batista, Jack Alcott as my son Harrison, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, James Remar as my dad Harry, and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater. On top of that, the amazing Krysten Ritter will be gracing our screens as a guest star! Can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve got in store for this season!

The TV series titled ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ should not be mixed up with ‘Dexter: Original Sin,’ a prequel from 2024 that features Patrick Gibson as the young Dexter, evolving from student to murderer. In this version, Michael C. Hall reprises his role as Dexter’s inner voice.

Resurrection” refers to one of the spin-offs of the popular serial killer drama “Dexter,” which was broadcast on Showtime for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013. The sequel series titled “Dexter: New Blood” premiered in 2021, with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as Dexter once again.

The show is overseen by executive producer Clyde Phillips, previously involved in “Dexter.” He also takes on the role of showrunner. Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios are responsible for production. In addition to Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns serve as executive producers. Marcos Siega serves as the producing director, while Monica Raymund will direct four episodes, with Siega taking charge of six episodes in this series distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

As a seasoned film critic, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the stellar work of Harris, a five-time Emmy and Tony Award winner. His impressive resume boasts roles in “Gone Girl,” “Uncoupled,” “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” and the hilarious “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” Each performance is a testament to his undeniable talent and versatility on screen.

He is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
