NBC Officially Renews Daniel Radcliffe’s The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins

Daniel Radcliffe is enjoying success on multiple fronts: his acclaimed one-man show on Broadway is receiving Tony Award recognition, and his new series on NBC is also proving to be popular with viewers.

The series premiered on NBC on February 23rd and quickly became a surprisingly popular show. Created by some of the team behind 30 Rock, it features Daniel Radcliffe and Tracy Morgan. NBC announced it would be back for a second season on May 13th, just a month after the first season ended.

The series is reportedly returning with another 10-episode batch, similar to Season 1.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Was a Hit

The show first aired on NBC on January 18th, attracting over 14 million viewers. It then premiered on Peacock on February 23rd and continued to be popular on traditional television, initially gaining 5.8 million viewers on NBC the day it launched.

Okay, let me tell you about this new comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe. It actually did pretty well when it aired on TV, pulling in a solid 1.4 rating with viewers aged 18 to 49, and it definitely benefited from being scheduled right after a popular NFL playoff game – the Rams versus the Bears, to be exact. However, it didn’t really translate to streaming success; it had a short run there and didn’t make much of an impact, unfortunately.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins tells the story of Morgan as Reggie Dinkins, a former football star trying to rebuild his reputation. He teams up with filmmaker Arthur Tobin to win back the support of his fans and the approval of his family, but he must first face his difficult past.

The new sitcom, from the creators of 30 Rock (Robert Carlock and Sam Means) and with Tina Fey as an executive producer, has been a hit with critics, earning a perfect score from 34 reviews and a “Certified Fresh” rating. Viewers have also enjoyed it, with a 73% approval rating.

The show features Erika Alexander, Precious Way, Jalyn Hall, and Bobby Moynihan as main cast members, with appearances by Anna Camp, Craig Robinson, and others.

Daniel Radcliffe Just Scored a New Tony Award Nomination

Daniel Radcliffe, known for his role in the Harry Potter films, has been combining his passion for stage and screen for nearly twenty years. In 2024, he won his first Tony Award for playing Charley Kringas in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. The musical was also adapted into a film and released in cinemas.

He recently received another Tony Award nomination for his work in the play Every Brilliant Thing, which explores the topic of depression. Once his run ends, Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay will take on the role.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is available to stream on Peacock.
