NBC Gets Steve Kornacki and His Big Board in the MSNBC Split

100% certainty: Steve Kornacki will no longer appear on MSNBC, as he has signed a new contract with NBC. According to the Los Angeles Times, Comcast is separating MSNBC from its parent network, and Kornacki has already been integrated into NBC’s broader operations. The network has utilized his statistical expertise to analyze NFL playoff percentages and horse racing odds in sports broadcasts. Now, as reported by the Times, Kornacki will expand his role at NBC, making news appearances on shows like Today, NBC Nightly News, and Meet the Press, while continuing his sports work. This new arrangement comes as NBC gears up to air NBA games for the first time in over two decades in 2025.

Kornacki joins the ranks of other prominent figures departing from MSNBC. The network has also terminated shows hosted by Joy Reid, Alex Wagner, Katie Phang, and José Díaz-Balart, all of whom are individuals of color. According to a report in the Times, MSNBC is indeed seeking a new host to fill Kornacki’s role. However, it remains undecided if khakis will be compulsory for the new hire.
