NBC Cheerleading Comedy Pilot ‘Stumble’ Casts Jenn Lyon in Lead Role

Jenn Lyon has been cast in a lead role in the NBC comedy pilot “Stumble,” EbMaster has learned.

The pilot for the show was first revealed in March. As we mentioned before, the show’s logline describes it as a mockumentary that explores the absurdly intense competitive environment of junior college cheerleading. Initially, the project was established with a ‘put pilot’ agreement at NBC towards the end of 2024.

Lyon will star as Courtney Potter. The character description reads:

Courteney, who shares the title for the most victorious coach in Junior College Cheer history, experiences a significant downfall when a controversial video surfaces showing her enjoying herself at parties with her team. This leads her to accept a coaching position at a small, seemingly insignificant school in a town with a hard-to-pronounce name. Will she guide this motley crew of underdogs to victory and claim the championship? She has the potential, she has the drive, but whether or not she will succeed remains uncertain.

Lyon is primarily recognized for her starring part in the highly praised TNT show “Claws,” which spanned over four seasons. More recently, she has been featured on television in projects such as “Happy Face” on Paramount+, “Dead Boy Detectives” on Netflix, “English Teacher” on FX, and “Elsbeth” on CBS. In the near future, she will make an appearance in the Netflix series “Sirens,” sharing screen time with Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon.

Lyon is represented by SDB Partners, Talentworks, Principal Entertainment Los Angeles, and the law firm Hansen Jacobson Teller.

Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof are responsible for penning and overseeing the initial episode. Dana Honor serves as an executive producer through Defining Eve Productions, with Monica Aldama, a cheerleading coach, also holding the executive producer role. Jeff Blitz will direct and take on the executive producer position for the pilot. Universal Television is the production company involved.
