In the upcoming NBA 2K25, the W character will make a comeback on next-generation consoles and for the very first time on PC. For this season, the main emphasis for your W player revolves around achieving the status of the Greatest of All Time (GOAT).

Pursuit of Greatness

In NBA 2K25’s “The W” mode, your goal is to work your way up through the ranks during your basketball career, striving for greatness as told in the Pursuit of Greatness Story. This involves creating and developing a career that not only matches but eventually outshines the legends of the league.

As you embark on your initial phase, overcoming beginners such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will be your initial hurdle in your Quest for Excellence. Over the course of the season, your advancement will be monitored meticulously through graphs, providing a comprehensive record of your significant milestones. This process also serves to demonstrate how you fare in comparison to the player you are aiming to outperform in your ongoing pursuit.

It won’t be easy passing 99 OVR A’ja Wilson, or four-time champion Cynthia Cooper. All in all, you’ll need to play well for yourself while also bringing glory to your franchise.

Fully Voiced Press Conferences

In your journey toward excellence, you’ll find numerous chances to take part in a media briefing. For the first time ever in the W (Women’s National Basketball Association), these live and engaging conferences offer you the chance to influence not only your personal story but also that of the entire league.

At the start of your career, you’ll have an initial news conference where you express your primary aspirations as a player before taking the court. As the year progresses, additional press conferences will be held to discuss your achievements. Ultimately, these press conferences help make The W a more genuine and immersive experience.

The W Online

As a gamer, I’m excited to jump back into the world of The W Online! This time around, we’re shifting to an exhilarating outdoor court setting. It’s going to be thrilling to engage in intense 3v3 multiplayer matches with fellow gamers before I embark on my solo career again. Can’t wait to get started!

Most notably, the weekly community objectives are back in NBA 2K25. Essentially, these tasks must be completed by every player to earn rewards. The more you contribute, the rarer and better your reward will be.

Furthermore, the goals now track new stats such as:

  • Excellent green shot releases
  • Teammate Grades

In other words, if our Community manages to reach the target during at least four out of six weeks in each season, we all get a prize. Therefore, let’s all contribute weekly to boost our chances of earning some exciting freebies together.

Game Changers and Mentorship

Game Changer status returns, and NBA 2K25 has built upon and improved the feature. The Game Changer status is earned by contributing to weekly goals, but now there’s a new feature called Mentorship which you’ll want to be aware of.

Occasionally, you’ll encounter an opportunity to mentor lesser impact players. By accepting this role, they will undertake tasks designed to enhance your collective progress toward the game’s objectives. These tasks could involve asking them to accomplish feats such as:

  • Earn 7 rebounds, with a +1 rebounding attribute to help them out.

From my perspective as an enthusiast, mentorships aren’t just beneficial for the mentor and mentee; they’re a win-win situation for everyone involved. Moreover, each accomplished mentorship you successfully navigate will be proudly showcased on your player dashboard. And let me tell you, assisting your mentee in their growth not only broadens your own horizons but also fosters a more seasoned and enjoyable companion for shared gaming experiences.

Rewards

Lastly, we come to rewards. In The W Online, you’ll be able to receive new rewards for your MyPLAYER. These are earned by completing shorter stat goals (which refresh weekly). Additionally, your contributions help progress through the Community Goal, which helps everyone.

Some of the different rewards you can earn include:

  • Brand new jersey dresses
  • Holiday-themed clothes
  • Arm Sleeves, Ball Trails, and Green Release Animations (Game Changer Exclusive Rewards)

As a gaming enthusiast, here’s my take on the new improvements for W in NBA 2K25 this year: I’ve covered all the changes you need to know about! Can’t wait to see how these updates shake up the mode when it drops in September. Until then, don’t forget to explore everything else that’s new, from MyPLAYER to MyNBA. And keep an eye out this week as the developers roll out player ratings!

We look forward to the rest of the NBA 2K25 reveals as we approach the launch date.
